Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained so it can be answered. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers automatically receive basic technical details about the visit:
- Page-view times
- Visited pages and time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- Referring website, when available
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help reveal broad usage patterns, such as popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers combine that traffic information for us. A browser can reject cookies, although some site functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Route a search request to the selected provider
- Maintain reliable operation and page speed
- Diagnose and repair technical faults
- Measure which information visitors use
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
San Augustine County Criminal History does not keep, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It provides general directions to the San Augustine County sheriff and clerks, the Texas Department of Public Safety repository, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Government record access is governed by the Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, while DPS criminal-history dissemination is limited by Government Code sections 411.083 and 411.135. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or dossiers about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by the provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider sets its own retention and disclosure rules, which we do not control. Read those terms before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the San Augustine County website, the District Clerk, the sheriff, Texas agency pages, courts, legal resources, or outside search services. After leaving this website, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may measure activity across websites to select ads. That process takes place on their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search providers processing a submitted query
- Advertising networks serving material on the pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, customary safeguards protect collected data. No internet service is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 and will remove such data when its presence is brought to our attention.
Your Data Rights
Texas consumer-protection law, including the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices-Consumer Protection Act, Business and Commerce Code Chapter 17, may provide rights based on the facts and a visitor's residence. Available requests may include:
- Opting out of certain processing when applicable
- Requesting deletion of personal data
- Correcting inaccurate personal data
